21 November, 2017: National Symposium on “Islamic Epistemology in the Modern Knowledge Perspective” organized by Universitas Al Azhar Indonesia (UAI), Jakarta

The National Symposium on “Islamic Epistemology in the Modern Knowledge Perspective” was held at the Auditorium of Universitas Al Azhar Indonesia (UAI), Jakarta, November 21, 2017. The symposium was officiated by the new Rector of UAI, Prof. Dr. Asep Saefuddin and attended by the chairman of the Al Azhar Foundation, Secretary and 200 participants from different universities from Jakarta, Bandung, Bogor, Yogyakarta and Malang East Java. The Rector expressed his great hope to continue the cooperation with IIIT in the integration of knowledge as a new and prestigious university. He also mentioned a plan to develop UAI as the center of the Islamic Epistemology and Integration of Knowledge which will be chaired by Prof. Dr. Nurhayati Djamas.

Bapak M. Habib Chirzin was invited to deliver the opening speech, where he shared the idea of integration of knowledge, based on the Islamic Epistemology, Islamic World view and the important of maqashid al shariah in the process of integration. Bapak Habib also briefed the audience on the IIIT new policy and programs and the need for strengthening the national, regional and international network.

The invited speakers in the symposium include:

1. Prof. Dr. Mat Rofa Ismail, a senior expert on mathematics and philosophy of science; as the Keynote Speaker.
2. Prof. Dato Dr. Ariff Osman, the Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Medicine of IIUM.
3. Prof. Dr. Imam Suprayogo, former Rector UIN Malang, the initiator of Integration of Knowledge in UIN and IAIN.
4. Dr. dr. Taufiq Pasiak, expert on Neuro science, the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sam Ratulangi, Manado. He has written 9 (nine) books on Islam and Neuro Sciences.
5. Prof. Dr. Nurhayati Djamas, the Director of the Islamic Integration and Fundamental Sciences, the former Deputy Rector of Al Azhar University of Indonesia (UAI).
