Alhamdulillah, with the consent of Chinese government, at
5.00 PM, on 15th May 2015, IIIT signed MOU with Institute of Islamic Laws,
Economics and Finance, of Northwest University of Politics and Law, in Xi'an,
China.
Northwest University of Politics and Law is a university
in Xi'an, one of the old law institutions in China. The university serves as
the educational center of law in the northwest part of China and as one of the
key bases of law institutions of higher learning in China.
Located in the time-honored city of Xi'an, Northwest
University of Politics & Law is a multidisciplinary institution of higher
education characterized of law education together with a broad array of
disciplines such as philosophy, economics, management, and literature. It is a
base of great importance for training nationwide law talents, the centre of law
studies in northwest China, and also a significant base for studies of
humanities and social sciences in Shaanxi province. Rooted in Shaanxi, oriented
to Northwest region, and serving the whole nation, NWUPL has cultivated and is
cultivating a great number of talents to serve China's development in the
fields of law, economics, philosophy, arts and engineering.
The MOU was signed by Prof. Omar Hassan Kasule (Secretary
General of IIIT) and Prof. Wang Yongbao (Director of Institute of Islamic Laws,
Economics and Finance of Northwest University). The signing was witnessed by
Prof. Jai Yu, the President of the University and Dato' Dr. Jamil Osman, IIIT
representative for East and Southeast Asia.
The two hours meeting and discussion prior to the signing
ceremony between IIIT representatives (Prof. Omar, Dato' Jamil, Prof. Shaaya
and Br. Shahran) and representatives from the Northwest University (President,
Dean, Director and Deputy Dean) was very positive. It was agreed that there
will be a joint seminar on Islamic Economics and Muslim minorities, in Xi'an
this year. Prof. Dr. Wang Yongbao (Dr. Ahmad Musa) was also officially
appointed as IIIT representative for China with the blessing from the President
of the University.
The institute will undertake a translation project of
IIIT books to Mandarin language and IIIT will send its publications to the
University library. According to the University officials, IIIT is the first
international institution visited and signed MOU with the Institute. The
meeting today marked a historical event for the both institutions.
