09-10 January, 2014: IIIT East Asia Coordination Meeting

The objectives of the meeting were to strengthen networks among the representatives and to coordinate programs and activities for this year and beyond. The meeting was attended by representatives from Japan, Korea, China, Hong Kong, Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia. Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim hosted a reception dinner and gave a special address on Contemporary Issue in Muslim Education based on his recent talk Washington DC.

Among resolutions of the meeting include:

a. Preparing teaching materials and textbooks for primary, secondary and tertiary Muslim schools and universities

b. Training for teachers and community leaders in managing institutions

c. Training for resource persons among scholars in higher learning institutions in the area of Islamisation of Knowledge

d. Enhance networking and exchange of information and materials among Islamic institutions in the region.

 

11 January, 2014: Conference on Islamization and Integration of Knowledge in East and Southeast Asian Countries

The one-day conference featured presentations from IIIT representatives from the region. Prof. Dr. Omar Kasule and Prof. Dr. Osman Bakar presented major outlines and work plan for Islamization efforts in the region. Keynote speech was given by Prof. Dr. Abdul Hamid via skype. The seminar was attended by more than 75 participants including lecturers and students.

05 September, 2014: MOU Signing Ceremony between IIIT and IIUM, Kuala Lumpur

A historic MOU Signing Ceremony was held on 5^th September, 2013 between IIIT and IIUM. The event was attended by Dr. Ahmad Totonji on behalf of IIIT and Top Management of IIUM. In the spirit of the MOU, Hon. Rector has given her consent to set-up an office for textbook project at the Institute of Education, IIUM. The office will be the centre of coordination for all activities between IIIT, IIUM and beyond.
